Miller’s latest start-up, gwabbit, debuted their first product, gwabbit for Outlook, in March 2009 at the DEMO ‘09 conference. The industry’s first automatic Email Contact Manager (ECM), gwabbit utilizes the latest in semantic technology to scan incoming emails to capture and store vital contact information. gwabbit has been awarded a DEMOgod award – the highest honor bestowed by the nation’s premier technology conference for launching startup companies. gwabbit’s most recent product, gwabbit for BlackBerry, debuted in May 2009 at the WES ‘09 conference. Both products have received overwhelming industry and critical praise, being featured in Wall Street Journal, ABC News, USA Today, and Business Week. 

Prior to Technicopia, Miller founded WebFeat, the industry’s first federated search engine. WebFeat, acquired by ProQuest in 2008, is used by millions of users at over 16,500 research institutions worldwide, as well as government, corporate, and military information centers. Prior to WebFeat, he operated as President of Knight-Ridder SourceOne in the mid-90’s, which was the leader in digital document access and delivery.  Earlier in his career, Miller worked at Ziff Communications’ Information Access subsidiary (now Cengage), where he was responsible for the launch and rapid growth of the hugely successful InfoTrac search system.

Miller, an award winning innovator in search technology, has been recognized as one of the top leaders in his field by major industry players such as The Gartner Group and IBM. In 1996, he received the “Best Internet Infrastructure” award from the Gartner Group for his pioneering design work on a Lotus Notes-based document management system and was also selected as The Library Journal’s “Mover & Shaker” award recipient for his groundbreaking work in the field of federated search. Miller was featured in IBM’s “Success Stories” ad campaign and was a speaker in their national eBusiness tour.

Miller holds four patents in the field of search technology and authentication and session management and his specialties include start-ups, turnarounds, and business and product development. Miller graduated from the University of Texas, at Austin, with a degree in Business Administration and resides in Carmel Valley, CA with his wife and 6 rescue dogs.
